Ward supply pharmacy is responsible for medication supply to all wards and units in HCTM. It is located at the basement of clinical building and operates every day including weekends and public holidays. All prescriptions or floor stock orders will be prescribed via online prescribing system and will be screened by pharmacists or assistant pharmacists before they proceed to supply. A systematic workflow and a benchmark is set to make sure all prescriptions is processed and supplied within 15 minutes to 3 hours to the respective ward/unit.

Ward supply pharmacy is divided in to 4 sub-units:

  • Floor Stock System

Floor stock indent day is set for every wards and units to make sure the process is done systematically. Pharmacy assistant and healthcare assistant will refill the ward/unit trolley respectively based on the usage. The floor stock items for every wards/units are reviewed twice a year to ensure optimum use of medications and to avoid medication wastage.

  • Unit of Use System

All medications prescribed by the doctors will be supplied on a 3 days basis for injections and 5 days basis for tablets.

  • Dangerous Drugs (DD) and Psychotropic Drugs 

All DD and Psychotropic Drugs are supplied as floor stock and under patient name basis depending on the frequency of usage in each wards/units. All storage and documentations are handled by pharmacist or provisionally registered pharmacist (PRP).

  • Galenical Preparation Unit

This unit is responsible in preparing extemporaneous products such as syrups and pre-packing bulk product such as lotion, cream and ointment into smaller packaging for wards/units usage.
