HCTM Reaches Out to the Hulu Selangor Community Through ‘Meet the Health Experts’ Programme

Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), through the Department of Surgery and Advanced Surgical Skills Center (ASSC), organised the Community Outreach Programme, “Meet the Health Experts”, in conjunction with the Vascular Disease Awareness Month. The programme was held on 9 and 10 September 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall & Hulu Selangor District Sports Complex, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor.

The programme, officiated by HCTM Director, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, is part of the hospital’s annual initiative to raise public awareness of vascular diseases, particularly in relation to symptoms, risk factors, early detection, prevention, care and treatment.

In his officiating speech, he said that this year marks the third year the programme has been conducted outside HCTM. The programme was previously held in Manjung District, Perak, in 2024 and Mersing District, Johor, in 2025, while Kuala Kubu Bharu was selected as the target destination this year.

The two-day programme, which commenced today, offered a variety of activities for the local community, including free health screenings for blood vessel and kidney diseases, health talks, as well as consultation sessions with medical specialists.

Members of the local community had the opportunity to receive consultations and examinations from vascular and nephrology specialists, enabling them to assess the health of their blood vessels and kidneys.

YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi also urged members of the public to make regular health check-ups a routine practice and to promptly seek medical examination and treatment at the nearest healthcare facility if they experience any signs or symptoms associated with arterial or venous diseases.

The programme was also organised with the cooperation and support of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Kuantan Campus, Selangor State Health Department (JKNS), Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital, Hulu Selangor District Health Office (PKDHS), Hulu Selangor Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA), Hulu Selangor District and Land Office (PDTHS), Hulu Selangor District Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN), and Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS).
