Closing Ceremony of the Healthy Community, Prosperous Living Programme 3.0 – “Mission Possible: Shape Up!”

Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), through the Dietetics and Food Services Department, organised the Closing Ceremony of the Healthy Community, Prosperous Living Programme 3.0 – “Mission Possible: Shape Up!” on 26 November 2025 (Wednesday) at the Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia, Kampus Ilmu Khas (IPG KIK), Cheras. This programme was part of a series of community health initiatives that began with the first programme on 18 June 2025, followed by the second on 20 August 2025, and concluded on 26 November 2025. A total of 50 participants, comprising students and staff of IPG KIK—most of whom were from the B40 group—took part in making this programme a success.

The main objective of the programme was to serve as a catalyst for the formation of a community that is physically healthy, mentally sharp, and emotionally well, in line with the nation’s aspiration towards a healthy and productive civil society. It also aimed to empower the community to be more aware of their personal health and to adopt and sustain healthy lifestyles.

The Closing Ceremony was graced by a speech from YBrs. Encik Mursidi Ahamad, Deputy Director (Administration), representing the HCTM Management. In his address, he expressed his appreciation to YBrs. Dr. Faridah Yakob, Director of IPG KIK, for the cooperation extended in ensuring the success of the programme. Congratulations were also conveyed to Ms. Nurul Liza Mohammad, Head of the Dietetics and Food Services Department; Mr. Abdul Rahman Abd Kadir, Chairman of the Programme Committee; and the organising committee for their support, commitment, and tireless efforts in implementing this initiative successfully.

Fun Walk World Stroke Day Programme

Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), organised the sixth edition of the “Fun Walk World Stroke Day” programme. The opening ceremony was held on 25 November 2025 (Tuesday) at the Auditorium, Kompleks Pendidikan Perubatan Canselor Tuanku Ja’afar, HCTM, and was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM.

The “Fun Walk” programme was a joint initiative by the Neurology Unit, the Department of Medicine, and the Nursing Services Department of HCTM, in collaboration with several pharmaceutical companies. The programme aimed to broaden public knowledge on stroke risks, preventive measures, and the importance of early treatment.

HCTM also provides a range of rehabilitation services, including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics, and occupational therapy, to help patients achieve optimal recovery. The organisation of this programme is hoped to further strengthen health awareness efforts at the community level.

Opening Ceremony of the World Radiology Day Celebration

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), through the Department of Radiology, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) and the Faculty of Medicine (FPER), in collaboration with the Department of Radiology, Hospital Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani, the Specialist Children’s Hospital (Hospital TABTAR), as well as the Faculty of Health Sciences (FSK), organised the Opening Ceremony of the UKM-Level World Radiology Day Celebration on 28 November 2025 (Friday) at the HCTM Auditorium.

The ceremony began with an angklung performance by students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam, setting a festive tone before proceeding with a welcoming address by YBrs. Associate Professor Dr. Faizah Mohd Zaki, Head of the Department of Radiology, HCTM, and Chairperson of the UKM-Level World Radiology Day Celebration 2025. The opening ceremony was then officiated by YBhg. Professor Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) of UKM, representing the Vice-Chancellor of UKM.

The celebration was held in commemoration of the discovery of X-rays by Professor Wilhelm Roentgen on 8 November 1895. This date was subsequently recognised as World Radiology Day and is celebrated annually on 8 November by the radiology community worldwide. The discovery is regarded as a major turning point in the field of medicine, particularly in patient diagnosis and treatment. During the event, winners of the Radiology Quiz, the “3 Minutes Pitching” competition for the Allied Health Professions category, and the “Rad-X Quiz: Radiology Excellence League” were also announced, followed by visits to exhibition booths at the Main Lobby, HCTM.

The ceremony was also attended by YBhg. Professor Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah Harunarashid, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Kuala Lumpur Campus (KKL), YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM, YBhg. The Bitara and Quality Inspiration Awards Ceremony of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), was held with great festivity on 13 November 2025 (Thursday) at the Auditorium, Kompleks Pendidikan Perubatan Canselor Tuanku Ja’afar, HCTM. A speech was delivered by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM.

This ceremony marked the highlight of the HCTM Quality Day 2025 celebration, aimed at recognising outstanding individuals and teams across various quality-related fields. A total of 54 awards in multiple categories were presented to deserving recipients as a token of appreciation for their commitment, collaboration, and dedication in strengthening the quality culture within HCTM.

The culture of quality is not merely a slogan or an annual event, but a work ethic and core organisational value that must be embraced in every action. Quality culture practices form the foundation of healthcare excellence and are key to ensuring patient safety and well-being, which remain the highest priorities for HCTM.

Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), remains committed to strengthening a culture of excellence through the organisation of HCTM Quality Day 2025. The Official Opening Ceremony of HCTM Quality Day 2025 was held on 12 November 2025 (Wednesday) at the Auditorium, Kompleks Pendidikan Perubatan Canselor Tuanku Ja’afar, HCTM.

The ceremony began with a welcoming speech by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Hamzaini Abdul Hamid, Deputy Director (Diagnostic, Pharmacy and Support Services) and Chairman of the HCTM Quality Day 2025 Committee, followed by the officiation of the event by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM. This programme serves as a platform to appreciate the contributions, dedication, and commitment of HCTM staff in strengthening the culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.

This year’s theme, “Quality: Think Differently”, is aligned with the World Quality Day theme. It calls on HCTM staff to think beyond conventional boundaries, explore new approaches, and innovate in efforts to enhance the quality of healthcare services. HCTM staff are encouraged to be more creative and innovative to ensure the organisation’s relevance and excellence in navigating current challenges, including digitalisation, the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), and rising customer expectations.

Activities held throughout the programme included the Customer Day Exhibition, Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention, Briefing on Continuous Improvement Practices Through a Productive Work Environment, recreational activities, and Explorace, a Briefing on Internet of Things (IoT), the Pre-Quality Assurance (QA) Convention, as well as the HCTM Bitara and Quality Inspiration Awards Ceremony.

Congratulations HCTM for winning the GOLD Award at the International Convention on Quality Control Circle (ICQCC) 2025

Heartiest congratulations to Kumpulan Sinaran from the Department of Radiology, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for winning the GOLD Award at the International Convention on Quality Control Circle (ICQCC) 2025, held from 3 to 6 November 2025 at the Taipei International Convention Centre, Taipei, Taiwan.

This year, Kumpulan Sinaran was led by Mr. Saiful Azri Solahuddin and comprised eight (8) team members consisting of radiographers, nurses, administrative assistants, and healthcare assistants. The team presented a project titled “High Radiation Dose in Brain CT Scan.”

Through this project, the team successfully developed an innovative device named “MP Arc Shield,” which serves three (3) main functions: protecting against radiation exposure, assisting in patient positioning, and functioning as a motion-prevention tool. This innovation earned Kumpulan Sinaran an outstanding achievement as the GOLD Award winner at this prestigious international convention, now in its 50th edition.

The Official Opening Ceremony of the “Pharmacists As Collaborative Experts” (PACE) 2025 Program

The Official Opening Ceremony of the “Pharmacists As Collaborative Experts” (PACE) 2025 Program, held in conjunction with the World Pharmacists Day Celebration at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), was successfully conducted on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, at the HCTM Auditorium. The event was officiated by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Hamzaini Abdul Hamid, Deputy Director (Diagnostic, Pharmacy, and Support Services), representing the Director of HCTM.

World Pharmacists Day has been celebrated annually on 25 September since 2009 as a recognition of pharmacists’ contributions worldwide in enhancing the quality of healthcare. This year’s theme, “Think Health, Think Pharmacist,” reinforces the message that pharmacists are no longer confined behind the counter but have become vital pillars in the modern healthcare system. Pharmacists today serve as collaborative experts within healthcare teams across public, private, community, and hospital sectors. Pharmacy services now encompass a wide range of critical areas such as Medication Therapy Adherence Clinics (MTAC), treatment guideline development, and clinical research.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Hamzaini expressed his highest appreciation to the Department of Pharmacy, HCTM, for successfully organizing this impactful symposium for the first time. He also conveyed his confidence that the PACE Symposium is not merely a one-off event, but the beginning of a continuous effort to elevate the pharmacy profession for the well-being of the people and the advancement of the nation’s healthcare system.

The Kindergarten Sports Day (TASKA) at Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), for the year 2025 was celebrated with great joy on Saturday, 25 October 2025, at the Foyer Lobby, Preclinical Building, Faculty of Medicine, UKM. The opening ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM.

In his speech, the Director expressed his appreciation to the parents for their continuous support and trust in HCTM TASKA. Their participation in activities like this is seen as an opportunity to strengthen the bond between home and the childcare centre, thereby fostering a more harmonious and caring learning environment.

The Sports Day not only provides children with opportunities for physical health but also instills noble values such as teamwork, self-confidence, respect for others, and the spirit of perseverance. These activities are highly encouraged to ensure that sportsmanship values are consistently practiced in daily life, promoting an active lifestyle as a healthy and positive family culture.
