For the first time, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) held the Chinese New Year 2025 Celebration on February 18, 2025 (Tuesday) at the Gallery, Kompleks Pendidikan Perubatan Canselor Tuanku Ja’afar, HCTM. The event was graced by the presence of YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM. This celebration aimed to honor the unique traditions and culture of the Chinese community while fostering inter-ethnic harmony. The year 2025, the Year of the Snake, symbolizes renewal and hope, inspiring the setting of new resolutions and achieving success and prosperity.

In his speech, the Director of HCTM emphasized the importance of collaboration and harmony among the workforce to improve efficiency and effectiveness in delivering the best service. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to the organizing committee for making the event a success. The event began with a lion dance performance by the Kee Ling Kok Kuala, a Physical Training Organization, followed by the Yee Sang tossing, and concluded with the distribution of mandarin oranges to the guests.

The atmosphere at the Main Lobby of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, UKM, has been enlivened by vibrant decorations in celebration of Chinese New Year. The decorations, a collaboration between the Customer Service Department and the Corporate Communications Department, include Red Lanterns, ‘Ang Pow’, and artificial Cherry Blossom flowers, all symbolizing luck and happiness/joy. Even though they are in the hospital, the spirit of the Chinese New Year celebration is still felt. It is not just decoration, but clearly expresses unity, harmony and new hope for all.

HCTM Talks: 45 Minutes with the Director was held on 14 January 2025 at the Auditorium, Kompleks Pendidikan Perubatan Canselor Tuanku Ja’afar, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) with the presence of nearly 300 HCTM staffs. The event was graced with an opening performance performed by a performance group under the portfolio of the Deputy Director (Medical Services).

The primary objective of this event was to recognize and celebrate the achievements and excellence attained by HCTM throughout 2024. Key highlights included the Speech of Appreciation and Congratulations to the Appointments of UKM and HCTM Leadership, the successes accomplished, management performance developments, and the direction for HCTM in 2025 focusing on Quality Improvement, Staffs Empowerment, Human Resource Management Efficiency, and Strengthening Community Services.

In his address, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM, encouraged HCTM staffs to support the renewal of work culture by demonstrating cooperation, integrity, and effective communication. He also emphasized the importance of actively contributing to the improvement of work quality, prioritizing innovation, and nurturing positive leadership. YBhg. Dato’ believes that with the commitment and dedication of all, HCTM will foster a more efficient and excellence-driven work environment, ultimately delivering the best service to patients.

At this gathering, HCTM staffs were given the opportunity for a question and answer session with HCTM Management, offering them a platform to express their views and suggestions directly. The event also marked the Launch of the i-Doctor Podcast, organized by the Jabatan Multimedia dan Penyiaran, HCTM, and the Symbolic Signing Ceremony of the HCTM Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Policy.

Pelancaran Kempen “1 Pesakit, 1 NRP: Kemaskini Maklumat Anda” anjuran Jabatan Khidmat Pelanggan, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, UKM (HCTM) telah berlangsung pada 18 Disember 2024 (Rabu) bertempat di Lobi Utama, HCTM. Program ini merupakan komitmen hospital dalam meningkatkan kualiti perkhidmatan perawatan di HCTM. Majlis pelancaran ini telah disempurnakan oleh YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Pengarah HCTM.
Dalam ucapannya, beliau menekankan bahawa kemaskini dan penyelenggaraan maklumat pesakit yang tepat dan terkini adalah amat penting untuk memastikan rawatan dapat diberikan dengan lebih pantas, efisien dan bersasar. Sistem Nombor Rekod Pesakit (NRP) menjadi teras kepada pengurusan maklumat yang cekap, membolehkan proses pendaftaran dan rawatan lebih lancar, meningkatkan kualiti pengalaman pesakit secara keseluruhan serta meminimumkan risiko kesilapan dalam rawatan. Usaha ini bukan sahaja memenuhi keperluan hospital, malah membawa manfaat besar kepada pesakit. Maklumat peribadi pesakit penting bagi memudahkan perhubungan antara pihak hospital dengan waris pesakit jika berlaku kecemasan semasa mendapatkan rawatan. Selain itu, bagi sebaran dan penyampaian maklumat berkaitan pertukaran atau penundaan tarikh temujanji dapat disampaikan dengan mudah dan cepat. Kempen ini telah dijalankan selama 3 hari pada bulan Oktober dan November.
Turut hadir di dalam program ini YBrs. Encik Ahmad Zamri Noordin, Ketua Jabatan Khidmat Pelanggan, HCTM merangkap Pengerusi Kempen, Ketua-ketua jabatan, Pegawai-pegawai kanan dan warga HCTM.

Celebration of Health Care Assistant Day (PPK)

YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah Harunarashid, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Kuala Lumpur Campus, UKM has officiated the Celebration of Health Care Assistant Day (PPK) on 12 December 2024 located at Auditorium, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM).

This year’s PPK Day celebration, themed “Jiwa Madani Asas Kecemerlangan Profession” is to appreciate PPK’s important role in supporting the smooth running of health services, as well as to celebrate their achievements in improving professional skills. This theme emphasizes humanitarian values ​​and professionalism as the main basis in achieving excellence in the field of health services.

This ceremony also celebrated 53 Health Care Assistants who successfully completed the 2022 & 2023 Session Competency Course. In his speech, YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah praised the important role of PPK, described as a “precious jewel” in ensuring smooth clinical services and quality patient care.

Friendly Visit of the Director of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, UKM with the Staff

The Friendly Visit by the Director of HCTM with the Staff took place on December 3, 2024, and December 12, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM. This two-day visit covered all departments/units/centers under the Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM (HCTM).

The main purpose of this program is to strengthen the relationship between the management and its staff. The Director of HCTM also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation that has been given by all staff. He hoped that the staff would continue to maintain their best momentum in every task carried out to make HCTM the best teaching hospital in Malaysia and internationally. As a symbol of appreciation, the Director presented framed Aspirations of HCTM to the departments/units/centres. The Director of HCTM also had the opportunity to present the same framed Aspiration of HCTM to the Security Division, Kuala Lumpur Campus as a token appreciation for their role in ensuring the success of all the Director’s Friendly Visit sessions.

World Heart Day Celebration at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, UKM

The World Heart Day Celebration at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM (HCTM), organized by the Cardiology Unit of the Department of Medicine HCTM, was held on December 12, 2024, at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Training Institute. The event was officiated by YBrs. Dr. Zairul Azwan Mohd Azman, Deputy Director (Medical Services), representing the Director of HCTM.

The purpose of this World Heart Day celebration was to raise awareness about healthy living, educate staff on heart health care through healthy activities and diets, as well as to avoid smoking, and to provide exposure regarding heart disease and its impact on the population in Malaysia. The Cardiology Unit, Department of Medicine, in collaboration with the Nursing Services Department, Pharmacy Department, Emergency Medicine Department, Dietetics and Food Services Department, and Physiotherapy Unit, Department of Medical Rehabilitation Services, took the initiative to successfully organize the World Heart Day 2024 celebration at HCTM with the theme ‘Use Heart For Action.’ This year, the event was particularly special as it was held for the first time in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

In his speech, the Deputy Director (Medical Services) quoted a statement from the Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah (2022), highlighting that 80% of hypertension patients are exposed to serious heart disease complications, and heart disease has remained the leading cause of death among Malaysians for 13 years from 2005 to 2017. Non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and unhealthy diet and lifestyle habits also contribute to the increase in heart disease. According to the Malaysia “National Cardiovascular Disease (NCVD) ACS/PCI registry” data, the age of patients suffering from heart attacks is significantly younger compared to other countries (about 10 years younger, with an average age of 58 years). 25% of patients are under 50 years old.

Several activities were carried out, including knowledge sharing and raising awareness about heart health issues. A forum titled ‘Heart Attacks Know No Age’ was held as part of the celebration. In addition, activities such as health screenings, heart health tests (ECG and Echo), health exhibitions, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) demonstrations, and consultations with heart specialists were also organized. The forum discussed the critical importance of heart health and its connection to the professions of Kuala Lumpur City Hall staffs.

Also present at the event were YBrs. Dr. Nor Halizam binti Ismail, Senior Deputy Director of the Environmental Health Division, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, YBrs. Dr. Mohd Shawal Faizal Mohamad, Head of the Cardiology Unit, Department of Medicine HCTM, YBrs. Dr. Beh Boon Cong, Chairman of the HCTM Heart Day Committee, cardiology experts, heads of divisions from Kuala Lumpur City Hall, and invited guests.

Majlis Pelancaran Kemudahan Terkini Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM)

Majlis Pelancaran Kemudahan Terkini Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) yang berlangsung pada 2 Disember 2024 (Isnin) di Lobi Utama HCTM bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan pelbagai kemudahan baharu yang disediakan oleh hospital ini. Pelancaran ini dirasmikan oleh YBhg. Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abd. Razak, Pengerusi Lembaga Pengarah Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. 

Inisiatif ini adalah sebahagian daripada usaha berterusan HCTM untuk meningkatkan keselesaan pesakit dan memberikan perkhidmatan yang lebih baik kepada masyarakat. Antara kemudahan terkini yang dilancarkan ialah Lobi Kemasukan dan Discaj dan Klinik Virtual.
