DOCTOR OF SURGERY

ABOUT PROGRAM

  1. The Doctor of Surgery Program is a 4-year full-time clinical training program
  2. Candidates will be trained at accredited primary and secondary centre throughout Malaysia either as an out-campus or in-campus candidate
  3. This program follows the same curriculum as other Master of General Surgery program in the country as part of the National Conjoint Board of Surgery
  4. This program undergoes all the accreditation processes as prescribed by Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA) and the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC)

PROGRAM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

LOCAL CANDIDATES

  1. Medical degree from UKM or M.D., M.B.B.S., M.B.C.H ; recognized by the Senate
  2. Degree must be from a university that is recognized and registered with the Malaysian Medical Council
  3. Have at least 2 years clinical experience following housemanship
  4. Have at least 6 month clinical experience in general surgery or any surgical subspecialty
  5. Pass the MedEx examinations within the past 3 years
  6. Pass the entrance evaluation conducted by Conjoint Subcommittee of General Surgery
  7. Age 40 years and below on the date of commencement of studies

INTERNATIONAL CANDIDATES

  1. Fulfils all the above criteria for local candidates
  2. IELTS > band > 6.5 or equivalent examination recognized by the Senate
  3. Undergo a 6-month clinical attachment in the Department of Surgery and passes the evaluation consisting of clinical competence and medical ethics

DOCTOR OF NEUROSURGERY

ABOUT PROGRAM

  1. The Doctor of Neurosurgery program is 4-year full-time clinical training program
  2. Candidates will be trained at accredited primary and secondary centres throughout Malaysia either as an out-campus or in-campus candidate
  3. This program undergoes all the accreditation processes as prescribed by Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA) and the Malaysian Medical Council (NMC)

PROGRAM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

LOCAL CANDIDATES

  1. Medical degree from UKM or M.D., M.B.B.S., M.B.C.H ; recognized by the Senate
  2. Degree must be from a university that is recognized and registered with the Malaysian Medical Council
  3. Have at least 2 years clinical experience following housemanship

DOCTOR OF PAEDIATRIC SURGERY

ABOUT PROGRAM

  1. The Doctor of Paediatric Surgery program is a 4-year full-time clinical training program
  2. Candidates will be trained at accredited primary and secondary centres throughout Malaysia either as an out-campus or in-campus candidate
  3. This program follows the same curriculum as other Master of Paediatric Surgery program in the country as part of the National Conjoint Board of Paediatric Surgery
  4. This program undergoes all the accreditation processes as prescribed by Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA) and the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC)

PROGRAM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

LOCAL CANDIDATES

  1. Medical degree from UKM or M.D., M.B.B.S., M.B.C.H; recognized by the Senate
  2. Degree must be from a university that recognized and registered with the Malaysian Medical Council
  3. Have at least 2 years clinical experience following housemanship which may include working in surgical specialties and paediatric medical specialties
  4. A minimum of 6 months prior experience in a paediatric surgical unit is highly recommended
  5. Have at least 6 month clinical experience in general surgery
  6. Pass the MedEx examinations within the past 3 years
  7. Pass the entrance evaluation conducted by Conjoint Subcommittee of Peadiatric Surgery
  8. Age of 40 years and below on the date of commencement of studies

INTERNATIONAL CANDIDATES

1. Fulfils all the above criteria for local candidates
2. IELTS band > 6.5 or equivalent examination recognized by the Senate
3. Undergoes a minimum of 6 month clinical attachment in a Malaysian paediatric surgical department prior to entry into advanced surgical training and passes the evaluation consisting of clinical competence and medical ethics
