INTRODUCTION

This service is via referrals from medical officers in the clinics and wards, the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and also the Revenue and Assessment Unit of Finance Department. Services provided include psychosocial/socioeconomic assessment, community facilities consultation, crisis intervention plus referrals to community resources for practical assistance.

TYPES OF SERVICES

1) Psychosocial/socioeconomic assessment services for the purpose of:

  • Identifing and assisting eligible patients to have access to resources
  • Identifing appropriate needs for emotional support and providing assistance when patients/families are in need of them.
  • Socio-economic assessment of cases that have been screened in advance by the Revenue and Assessment Unit for consideration on a reduction/exemption of treatment charges by the Management.

2) Practical assistance services are in the form of:

  • Referrals to various sources of financial assistance for the cost of treatment/equipment/medicines
  • Tracing of patient’s next of kin before their hospital discharge.
  • Assisting in the process of accommodation for Rumah Perantaraan Flat Sri Labuan and Ronald Mc Donald House HCTM.
  • Assisting in obtaining protection for legal matters such as cases of domestic violence
  • Assisting in obtaining placement for stranded patients.
  • Assisting patient’s emergency needs during treatment.
  • Referrals to sources of assistance for patients who have problems in cost of living or lack of basic necessities

3) Emotional support therapy and consultation services :

  • Cases of domestic violence
  • Case of un-wed mothers.
  • Cases of neglect and child abuse
  • Cases of social problems with chronic illnesses
  • Cases of rape/sodomisation
  • Cases of disability.

4) Intermediate Home Services

  • Providing accommodation facilities to patients and patient accompaniment residing outside of the Klang Valley and have no relatives living nearby HCTM.
  • Providing accommodation facilities to patients or patient accompaniment who require long-term treatment
  • Assisting patients or patient accompaniment who are financially un-capable to rent accommodation around HCTM.
  • Providing accommodation to patients who are in need of on-going treatment but do not need to stay in the wards.

5) HCTM Patient Welfare Fund

  • Assisting and ensuring patients who are not able to afford, is able to receive treatment and rehabilitation at HCTM.
  • Rendering assistance and treatment needs to needy patients at a speedy rate with a short assistance approval period.
  • Ensuring treatment needs are channelled to eligible and needy patients through a planned assessment.
