Introduction<\/strong><br \/>\nFull time programme. Entry requirements:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>General:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MD, MBBS, or MBChB from a recognised university by the Malaysian Medical Council.<\/li>\n<li>Two years of clinical experience after graduation.<\/li>\n<li>Registered with the Malaysian Medical Council<\/li>\n<li>Fulfil the entry requirements of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional requirements for international\/overseas candidates<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 7 IELTS or equivalent<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 6 months radiology experience with letter of recommendation from the supervising radiologist from country<br \/>\nof origin.<\/li>\n<li>Candidates are to be interviewed by Master of Radiology Conjoint Board and only successful candidates will be accepted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>C. General objectives of programme<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To provide knowledge and experience, in ALL imaging modalities including conventional plain radiography<br \/>\nprocedures, contrast studies, ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, isotope imaging<br \/>\nand interventional radiology.<\/li>\n<li>To provide practical training in performing radiological procedures both diagnostic and therapeutic, so that he or<br \/>\nshe is competent and safe to society.<\/li>\n<li>To stimulate interest and provide experience in conducting research in the form of case reports and research<br \/>\nprojects which is part of fulfilling the requirements for the Master of Medicine (Radiology). Trainees will gain<br \/>\nexperience in presentations at conferences and are encouraged to write scientific papers for publication based on<br \/>\ntheir research findings.<\/li>\n<li>To produce a radiologist who has good personal and professional skills with management and leadership<br \/>\nqualities.<\/li>\n<li>To produce a radiologist who can work independently and also as a good team player.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>D. Recognition of Programme<\/strong><br \/>\nTrainees undergoing the course are eligible to sit for the Part I and Final Fellowship examinations, of the Royal College of<br \/>\nRadiologists, United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>E. Training facilities<\/strong><br \/>\nFacilities available in the Departments of Radiology of PPUKM and Diagnostic Imaging Department of Hospital Kuala<br \/>\nLumpur include conventional radiography, conventional radiological procedures, fluoroscopy, ultrasonography (US),<br \/>\ndigital angiography (DSA), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, and<br \/>\nradionuclide imaging.<\/p>\n<p><strong>F. Programme structure<\/strong><br \/>\nThe programme consists of practical training and lectures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Place of training<\/strong><br \/>\nTrainees undergo practical training at the Departments of Radiology, Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM),<br \/>\nHospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), The Paediatric Institute (HKL) and Department of Molecular Imaging and Nuclear<br \/>\nMedicine, HUKM on a rotation basis. Overall, each trainee will have a minimum of 2 years for practical training in<br \/>\nHUKM and a minimum of 2 years in HKL.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practical training<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trainees are divided into two groups, with adequate number of trainees in each group to be posted to HUKM and HKL.<\/li>\n<li>All trainees are subjected to a medical officer roster and on call roster to ensure adequate exposure on all imaging<br \/>\nmodalities.<\/li>\n<li>Lecturers of the Department of Radiology, UKM and Radiologists of the Diagnostic Imaging Department, Hospital Kuala<br \/>\nLumpur, will supervise the practical work of all the trainees.<\/li>\n<li>All procedures and on call duties shall be recorded in the log book, to be submitted at the end of Year 4 as pre requisite for<br \/>\nsitting the rapid reporting session.<\/li>\n<li>Participation in clinicoradiological conference, conducted by the senior trainees (Year 3 and Year 4).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Lectures<\/strong><br \/>\nFormal lectures and tutorials are given to the Year 1 \u2013 Year 3 trainees<br \/>\nLectures are held at either PPUKM or UMMC according to the timetable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Attendance<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Satisfactory attendance to all activities\/lectures as per dictated by the programme.<\/li>\n<li>All clinical duties need to be performed.<\/li>\n<li>The 1st and 2nd year candidates are required to perform at least 40 \u2018on call\u2019 in the first 2 years. The 3<br \/>\nrd and 4th year<\/li>\n<li>candidates are required to perform at least 30 \u2018on call\u2019 in the next 2 years.<\/li>\n<li>Total number of leaves is 28 days per year, ie 14 days per semester. Unused leave cannot be carried forward.
