This event was held from the 19<sup>th<\/sup> to the 21<sup>st<\/sup> of February 2018 at Lecture Hall 1, Academic Block, Canselor Tuanku Mukhriz Hospital, UKMMC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The response was positive with 27 participants, consisting of postgraduate Family Medicine trainees and medical officers from UKM as well as various public universities (i.e. UIA, UPM and UITM).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The main objective of this course is for participants to recognize and manage current biopsychosocial problems faced by women and children at the primary care level in the context of resources available in the community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The topics cover a wide range of issues encountered by women and children. Women\u2019s health issues include family planning, urogynaecology problems, pre-natal screening, medical conditions in pregnancy and HIV and AIDS in pregnancy. Child health issues cover topics such as children with wheezing, paediatric emergencies, haematological problems, developmental and learning disorders and approach to the adolescent patient. There was also a simulation session where participants were given the chance to practice their skills on doing pap smears and IUCD insertion.<\/p>\n<p>The esteemed and experienced speakers were invited from PPUKM, PPUM, UITM and Hospital Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n<p>The organizing committee and department members hope that the participants gained benefit from attending this course. Thank you to those who attended and who have helped in the running of this course.
