Program was held to celebrate the elderly and also to\u00a0educate the young\u00a0on understanding elderly\u2019s care, especially\u00a0those who are unwell and disabled. The opening ceremony was\u00a0officiated\u00a0by Dr. Zairul Azwan Mohd Azman, Deputy Director (Medical Services) of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his speech, he\u00a0mentioned\u00a0exposure to all those involved in the field of elderly care is important because Malaysia is about to move towards the status of\u00a0an\u00a0aging\u00a0population. According to the statistical report for the first quarter of 2021, the composition of the elderly aged 65 and above increased from 2.26 million to 2.37 million\u00a0<b>people<\/b>\u00a0for the same period. It is estimated that approximately 705 Geriatric patients receive treatment at HCTM from May 2019 to September 2022 and this number is increasing every year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In conjunction with the World Elderly Day celebration, there were various activities such as booth<b>s<\/b>\u00a0from support units in Geriatric care (elderly), distribution of 100 goodie bags to visitors, health talks, light exercise sessions and lucky draws.
