“Our Nurses, Our Future” – World Nurses Day Celebration Opening Ceremony

Cheras, 25 May 2023 – The World Nurses Day 2023 Celebration Opening Ceremony organized by the Department of Nursing Services was held this afternoon at the Auditorium Kompleks Pendidikan Perubatan Canselor Tuanku Ja’afar, HCTM. The ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Gs. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Hj. Toriman, Vice Chancellor of UKM.

World Nurses Day which falls on 12 May 2023 is celebrated every year as an appreciation to remember the services of nurses who have sacrificed a lot of time, energy and hard work in providing the best service to the community. Themed “Our Nurses, Our Future” is accurate and in line with the current scenario of the country and the global world where nurses are the heart and mainstay of the sustainability and continuity in improving the standard of healthcare and community health. Prof. Dato’ Mohd Ekhwan in his speech said nurses have a very important role as one of the contributors in realizing the success of HCTM as a teaching hospital which is the main reference in the field of medicine nationally and internationally. He hopes that this excellent achievement can also be continued by the nurses at HPKK and UKM Specialist Center as a whole.

Nowadays, patients are exposed to various sources of information about the diseases. Therefore, as Nurses, we need to be ahead of the patients in terms of knowledge, especially related to health and illness,so the Nurse’s self-authority is always held in high esteem. The opening ceremony was also attended by YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah Harunarashid, Pro Vice Chancellor of the Kuala Lumpur Campus, YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Razman Jarmin, Director of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Prof. Datuk Dr. Ismail Sagap, Director of Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Hospital, Children’s Specialist Hospital, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, UKMSC Director, Deputy Directors, Department Heads and supporting staff.
