World Hand Hygiene Day Celebration Opening Ceremony Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz 2024

CHERAS, 8 May 2024 – The Opening Ceremony of the World Hand Hygiene Day Celebration at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz 2024 organized by the Infection Control Unit and Nursing Services Department was completed by YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Razman Jarmin, Director of HCTM at the Auditorium, Chancellor Tuanku Ja’afar Medical Education Complex , HCTM today.

On May 5 every year, the World Health Organization (WHO) runs the SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands campaign in conjunction with World Hand Hygiene Day which aims to raise awareness of the importance of hand hygiene among health workers and the general public. Adherence to hand hygiene practices among health workers is a key step that has proven to be effective in the prevention of health care-related infections and antimicrobial resistance.

“This celebration can indirectly strengthen the practice and effectiveness of the five (5) moments of hand hygiene and HCTM’s infection control program and make the leaders as role models in the hospital’s Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) program.”

“Activities like this can improve the image and quality of services, in line with HCTM’s success in obtaining MSQH and MS ISO 9001: 2015 certification awards. HCTM can be an example and follow for other health institutions under UKM to work together and be competitive to empower and pioneering healthcare in the Cheras Community and Malaysia in general.” he said while speaking at the opening ceremony this morning.

The presentation of the “HCTM Hand Hygiene Excellence 2023” Award and the presentation of ‘Hand Hygiene’ by Kumpulan Silat and TASKA HCTM were also included in this event. In addition, this program also features guest speakers from Al-Sultan Abdullah Hospital, UITM and the University of Malaya Medical Center. Also present at this event was Dr. Sharifah Azura Salleh, Head of HCTM’s Infection Control Unit and Program Chairperson, Mrs. Wan Omi Wan Yussop, Head of Finance Department, Mrs. Masrifah Zakaria, Head of HCTM’s Nursing Services Department and HCTM residents.
