The Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) Service Awards Ceremony (MAP) of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for the year 2025, themed “Southeast Asian Tradition,” was held with grandeur on Friday, 22 August 2025, at 8:30 PM at the Bangi Avenue Convention Centre (BACC). The ceremony honored 444 award recipients, which included the 20-Year and 30-Year Service Awards, as well as the 2025 Excellent Service Awards.

This recognition aimed to appreciate the tireless efforts, dedication and high commitment of HCTM staff in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. The welcoming speech was delivered by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM, followed by a speech from YBhg. Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abd. Razak, Chairman of the UKM Board of Directors. The awards were presented to 304 recipients of the 2025 Excellent Service Award (APC), 139 recipients of the 20-Year Service Award, and one (1) recipient of the 30-Year Service Award.

The event also featured the launch of two (2) new digital applications,  myHCTM and ePesakit@HCTM. The launch, officiated by YBhg. Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abd. Razak, aimed to enhance the efficiency, user-friendliness and integration of the healthcare service delivery system. The myHCTM app consists of modules for HCTM Staff and HCTM Management, while ePesakit@HCTM offers patients and their families direct access to services such as pre-registration, information updates, and clinic appointments.

The evening concluded with a heartfelt tribute and token of appreciation to former HCTM Director, YBhg. Professor Dato’ Dr. Razman Jarmin, and former Deputy Director (Diagnostic, Pharmacy and Support Services), YBrs. Associate Professor Dr. Hanita Othman, for their dedicated service and leadership.

Also in attendance were YBhg. Prof. Dr. Jamia Azdina Jamal, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation Affairs, YBhg. Prof. Ts. Dr. Faizal Mohamed, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Industry and Community Networking Affairs, YBrs. Tuan Haji Zanudin Mohd Daud, UKM Registrar, YBrs. En. Hazmir Hj. Zainal, Chief Librarian of UKM, YBrs. Encik Mursidi Ahamad, Deputy Director (Administration) cum Chairman of the Ceremony Committee, members of the HCTM Management, Department Heads, and celebrated HCTM staff.

 

Opening Ceremony of the 2025 World Hand Hygiene Day Celebration

The Opening Ceremony of the 2025 World Hand Hygiene Day Celebration at the Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), was held on Wednesday, 30 July 2025, at the Gallery, Canselor Tuanku Ja’afar Medical Education Complex, HCTM. The ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM.

The main objective of this celebration was to raise awareness and reinforce hand hygiene practices among the HCTM employees. This year’s theme, “It might be gloves. It’s always hand hygiene,” is especially relevant and timely in the ongoing effort to prevent the spread of infections and ensure patient safety at HCTM.

In his speech, the Director of HCTM expressed hope that the celebration would motivate and strengthen the spirit of HCTM staff to remain committed to delivering high-quality, safe and integrity driven healthcare services. He also believed that this event could serve as a catalyst for improving more effective and impactful hygiene practices, for the benefit and safety of all.

At the end of the ceremony, the distribution of the Jalur Gemilang flag and singing of the “Jalur Gemilang” song was held in conjunction with the upcoming 2025 National Day Celebration, involving all HCTM attendees.

Asyura Porridge Program 1447H

The Bubur Asyura Programme 1447H, organized by Surau Ibnu Sina in collaboration with Persatuan Pegawai Tadbir dan Ikhtisas (PERTADI), Malaysian Nurses Association (MNA), Kesatuan Kakitangan Am UKM (KESUKMA) with the volunteering staff of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was held on Tuesday, 22 July 2025, at the Taman Midah Gate C and main exit near the Advanced Reproductive Centre (ARC).

The programme began as early as 7:30 a.m., with around 100 volunteers from HCTM preparing cooking ingredients together in a spirit of teamwork. The distribution of Bubur Asyura started at 4:30 p.m. and continued until 5:00 p.m. A total of 750 packs of Bubur Asyura were distributed to the public and staff passing through the area.

The distribution was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM, together with HCTM’s Management, YBrs. Associate Professor Dr. Jamari Sapuan, Deputy Director (Surgical Services), YBrs. Dr. Zairul Azwan Mohd Azman, Deputy Director (Medical Services) and YBrs. Puan Masrifah Zakaria, Head of Nursing Services Department. Also present was YBrs. Encik Ahmad Zamri Noordin, Head of Customer Service Department cum Chairman of Surau Ibnu Sina.

 

Opening Ceremony of the Public Seminar on Organ Donation Awareness Campaign

The Opening Ceremony of the Public Seminar on Organ Donation Awareness Campaign, titled “Organ Donation: Hope vs Reality”, was organized by the Transplantation and Organ Procurement (TOP) Team and the Director’s Office of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), in collaboration with the National Transplant Resource Centre (NTRC). The event was held on Tuesday, 22 July 2025, at the Auditorium, Kompleks Pendidikan Perubatan Canselor Tuanku Ja’afar, HCTM. The ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM.

The main objective of the seminar was to raise public awareness on the importance and life saving benefits of organ donation, while also providing clear and accurate information about the process, procedures and criteria involved in organ donation. In addition, the seminar aimed to dispel common myths and misconceptions, encourage more individuals to voluntarily register as organ donors and increase the involvement of both the community and healthcare professionals in promoting and facilitating the organ donation process in Malaysia.

Public Lecture and Book Launch Ceremony “Maristans and Islamic Psychology”

Syarahan Umum dan Majlis Pelancaran Buku “Maristans and Islamic Psychology” anjuran  Unit Tulus, Jabatan Psikiatri  telah diadakan pada 17 Julai 2025 (Khamis), di Auditorium HCTM. Program ini adalah anjuran bersama Sekretariat Hal Ehwal Jaringan, Industri dan Masyarakat (HEJIM), Fakulti Perubatan dan Nur Innai Islamic Publication & Academy. Ucapan pembukaan telah disampaikan oleh YBhg. Profesor Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah Harunarashid, Pro Naib Canselor, Kampus Kuala Lumpur UKM.
Majlis ini bertujuan meningkatkan kesedaran terhadap pendekatan holistik dan sensitif budaya dalam rawatan kesihatan mental, serta mengukuhkan jaringan akademik antarabangsa. Biografi penceramah telah disampaikan oleh Dr. Fatimah Abdullah, Isteri Allahyarham Prof. Dr. Malik Badri, pakar psikiatri diikuti dengan syarahan umum “Strong Roots Lead to Blossoming Fruits” telah disampaikan oleh Dr. Rania Awaad, Psikiatri Klinikal dari Stanford University, Amerika Syarikat. Dr. Rania merupakan Pengarah Stanford Muslim Mental Health and Islamic Psychology Lab yang terkenal dengan kepakarannya dalam psikiatri Islam serta sumbangan beliau melalui inisiatif seperti Muslim Suicide Response Toolkit dan kajian tentang warisan Maristan iaitu pusat rawatan Islam tradisional yang menggabungkan aspek kesihatan fizikal, mental, dan rohani.
Majlis ini turut memperkenalkan Unit Tulus, inisiatif baharu Jabatan Psikiatri, HCTM, UKM yang memberi tumpuan kepada psikoterapi berasaskan nilai (value-based psychotherapy). Unit ini ditubuhkan pada April 2025, memberi  perkhidmatan psikoterapi yang bukan sahaja saintifik tetapi juga merangkumi dimensi rohani dan kemanusiaan pesakit. Ketua Unit Tulus dan Pengerusi Penganjur, Dr. Farah Nabila Abd Majid, menyatakan penubuhan unit ini sejajar dengan visi UKM untuk menjadi pusat kecemerlangan kesihatan mental yang progresif, inklusif, dan peka budaya.
Turut hadir dalam majlis ini ialah YBhg. Prof. Datin Dr. Marina Mat Baki, Dekan Fakulti Perubatan, UKM, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Pengarah HCTM, Timbalan-timbalan Dekan, Ketua-ketua Jabatan, pegawai-pegawai kanan, serta tetamu jemputan.

‘Let’s go to HCTM’ in conjunction with the 28th Anniversary Celebration

Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), through its Corporate Communication Department, organized the ‘Jom ke HCTM’ Program in conjunction with its 28th Anniversary Celebration on Wednesday, 16 July 2025, and Thursday, 17 July 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at the Advanced Surgical Skills Centre (ASSC), HCTM.

Two schools, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Cheras and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Permaisuri, were invited to participate in the program. The objective of the program was not only to introduce HCTM as a university teaching hospital but also to bring the world of medicine and healthcare closer to students and broaden their perspectives on career opportunities in these fields. The program began with welcoming remarks by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM, followed by a career talk. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a ‘Mock OSCE’ examination activity, facilitated by members of the UKM Surgical Students’ Society. The program concluded with a visit to the Anatomy Museum at the UKM Faculty of Medicine.
