Sunathon HCTM 2022
CHERAS, 10 December 2022 – A total of 86 children of HCTM and Ronald McDonald House staffs has participated in HCTM’s Sunathon Program that was held today. The mass circumcision program organized by Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz is an annual event that has started since 2003 with the aim to contribute social responsibility to help and ease the burden of the employees. This program is implemented every year except 2020, when the country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Razman Jarmin, Director of HCTM at the Auditorium. Also present in the program, Encik Mursidi Ahamad, HCTM Deputy Registrar, Encik Mohd. Nasri Nordin, Ronald McDonald House Managing Director, Prof. Associate Dr. Shahrun Niza Abdullah Suhaimi, Head of Surgery Department, and Lt. Col. (PA) Prof. Dato’ Dr. Zulkifli Md. Zainuddin, Head of the HCTM Sunathon Committee.
HCTM Nursery Graduation Ceremony 2022
CHERAS, 1 December 2022 – HCTM Nursery Graduation Ceremony 2022 was held this morning at the ASSC HCTM Auditorium. This program organized by the HCTM Nursery, Department of Integrated Facility Management was to celebrate the 24 children who graduated from the Nursery. HCTM Nursery previously known as Taska Pujangga HUKM followed by PERMATA Nursery UKM Medical Center shortly. The nursery started in early 1998 after HCTM were opened and has reached 24 years of establishment.
Early childhood education has become a main discussion agenda for the country, especially government and private organizations that are increasingly active in establishing nurseries in the workplace to provide a better welfare for staffs. HCTM’s nursery services cover the care and education of staff’s children aged three (3) months to four (4) years. The ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Professor Dato’ Dr. Razman Jarmin, Director of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, UKM. Also present at the ceremony were Mr. Mursidi Ahamad, Deputy Registrar of HCTM, Mrs. Zuraidah Konil, Head of Integrated Facilities Management Department of HCTM, Nursery educators and parents.
The Driving Rehabilitation Program, “Return To Drive” (RTD)
The Driving Rehabilitation Program, “Return To Drive” (RTD) is one of the services offered by the Occupational Therapy Unit, Department of Medical Rehabilitation Services, HCTM. This workshop aims to strengthen the knowledge and skills of therapists in handling assessment and treatment interventions and share the development of the driving rehabilitation program at the Occupational Therapy Unit. This program will be held on the following details:-

Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCOD)
Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCOD) is a recorded document the cause of death of a patient according to international standards proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO). It’s important to identify the underlying cause of death of the patient accurately and preventive measures to be better planned and implemented. This MCCOD can also improve the quality of hospital death data.
Realizing this importance, the International Center for Casemix and Clinical Coding (ITCC) and the Information Technology Division of the Kuala Lumpur Campus (BTM KKL) has integrated this MCCOD into the CHEtS System so it can be used by the last medical officer who treats the patient. Several series of training have been conducted and a pilot project has also been run at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) from 14 November to 15 December 2022. The use of MCCOD will be refined and will be fully implemented in all departments from January 2023.

World Elderly Day Celebration
CHERAS, 28 October 2022 (Friday) – World Elderly Day Celebration organized by the Geriatrics Unit was held at Main Lobby this morning. Program was held to celebrate the elderly and also to educate the young on understanding elderly’s care, especially those who are unwell and disabled. The opening ceremony was officiated by Dr. Zairul Azwan Mohd Azman, Deputy Director (Medical Services) of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM.
In his speech, he mentioned exposure to all those involved in the field of elderly care is important because Malaysia is about to move towards the status of an aging population. According to the statistical report for the first quarter of 2021, the composition of the elderly aged 65 and above increased from 2.26 million to 2.37 million people for the same period. It is estimated that approximately 705 Geriatric patients receive treatment at HCTM from May 2019 to September 2022 and this number is increasing every year.
In conjunction with the World Elderly Day celebration, there were various activities such as booths from support units in Geriatric care (elderly), distribution of 100 goodie bags to visitors, health talks, light exercise sessions and lucky draws. This program also received support and contribution from strategic partners such as the Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine, the Islamic Religious Council of the Federal Territory, Tena, Brego, and M&B Medical Marketing.
HCTM’s 25th Silver Jubilee Celebration
CHERAS, 19 October – Almost 180 invited guests attended the 25th Silver Jubilee Ceremony of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz and Tuanku Canselor Ward which was officiated by His Royal Highness Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, UKM Chancellor and DYMM Tunku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus, Tuanku Aishah Rohani binti Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud this morning. Opening speech was delivered by Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar, Secretary General of Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
In his speech, he expressed his utmost appreciation to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia for driving the hospital to an ‘international standard’ hospital. The spirit of togetherness for the sake of organisational excellence irregardless of whether staff are from clinical or non-clinical, has raised the hospital to fame for the last 25 years. Many successes have been achieved including the Advanced Surgical Skills Center (ASSC) becoming the first surgical skills training center outside of the United Kingdom (UK) to receive Accreditation from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), the Department of Surgery through bariatric expertise has recorded as many as 2,000 surgeries successfully carried out, and the upgrades of the Advanced Reproductive Center to Malaysia’s First Oncofertility Referral Center. HCTM is also active in implementing corporate social responsibility (CSR) in collaboration with KPT through the KPT-Prihatin Komuniti Sejahtera (KRIS) Program. Through funds channeled by KPT, a total of 53 projects involving health check-up activities (Mobile Clinics) and on-the-field experts directly engaging with the community.
The opening also included the launching of the hospital’s official logo and the 25th Silver Jubilee Coffee Table Book. Also present was His Highness Tunku Besar Seri Menanti, Tunku Ali Redhauddin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz, YBhg. Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abdul Razak, Chairman of UKM’s Board of Directors, YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Mr. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Hj Toriman, UKM Vice Chancellor, YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah Harunarashid, Pro Vice Chancellor (Kuala Lumpur Campus) and YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Razman Jarmin, Director of HCTM.
