9 Nov 2022 2022, 2022, News

Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCOD) is a recorded document the cause of death of a patient according to international standards proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO). It’s important to identify the underlying cause of death of the patient accurately and preventive measures to be better planned and implemented. This MCCOD can also improve the quality of hospital death data.

Realizing this importance, the International Center for Casemix and Clinical Coding (ITCC) and the Information Technology Division of the Kuala Lumpur Campus (BTM KKL) has integrated this MCCOD into the CHEtS System so it can be used by the last medical officer who treats the patient. Several series of training have been conducted and a pilot project has also been run at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) from 14 November to 15 December 2022. The use of MCCOD will be refined and will be fully implemented in all departments from January 2023.
